Alexander Zverev has dived into the generous personality of Novak Djokovic ahead of Wimbledon. The German claimed that he practiced with the 24-time Grand Slam champion and asked a few questions regarding his game.
Zverev claimed that it would have been fine if he had not answered those questions, as they would potentially play each other at Wimbledon. However, he was astonished to see Djokovic answering with detail and clarity. Zverev said in an interview to Tennis365:
He is so generous and he took his time to answer and to give me suggestions. I’m not sure anybody else in the world will do that to a direct competitor of his. He’s so generous with his answers. He actually takes his time and thinks about everything before he gives you an honest answer. I’m not sure anyone else in that world would do that.
Zverev and Djokovic are on opposite sides of the draw at Wimbledon. The duo have titanic tasks to face each other in a third consecutive Grand Slam event as Zverev might potentially face Carlos Alcaraz, and Djokovic could face Jannik Sinner.
They met each other at the Australian Open semifinals, where Djokovic retired after losing the first set. Then, they renewed their rivalry at Roland Garros, where the Serb emerged victorious in four sets.
Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz in the same draw at Wimbledon
Carlos Alcaraz, the two-time defending Wimbledon champion, will open his campaign against 38-year-old Fabio Fognini. The young Spaniard enters the tournament on an 18-match winning streak, the best of his career. He could face eighth seed Holger Rune in the quarter-finals.

If Alcaraz advances, his second-round opponent will be either Oliver Tarvet or Leandro Riedi. Both players are making their main draw debut at a Grand Slam event. Alexander Zverev, ranked third in the world, starts his run against Arthur Rinderknech. The German is projected to meet Taylor Fritz in the quarter-finals, which would be a closely watched encounter.
Fritz holds a strong 8-5 record against Zverev and has won their last five matches, starting with their clash at Wimbledon last year. The fifth seed begins his tournament against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, who made a strong impression by reaching the fourth round in his debut last year.
Novak Djokovic eyes 3 major records at Wimbledon
Novak Djokovic is known for rewriting the record books, and Wimbledon 2025 offers him another chance to do just that. Already considered one of the greatest of all time, Djokovic continues to chase new milestones on tennis’ biggest stages.

He currently holds the record for the most men’s Grand Slam titles with 24, a mark he reached at the 2023 US Open. Beyond that, he has an unmatched 40 ATP Masters 1000 titles, 428 weeks as world No. 1, and leads the all-time prize money list with $187 million. He’s also the only male player to win each of the four Grand Slams at least three times.
Although his dominance continues, Grand Slam victories have become more challenging. Since his last major win at the 2023 US Open, Djokovic reached the 2024 Wimbledon final but fell short against Carlos Alcaraz. He also made three other Grand Slam semi-finals, where Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have emerged as his top rivals.
At Wimbledon 2025, Djokovic could break three key records. First, he can surpass Margaret Court’s all-time Grand Slam record of 24 titles. Second, at 38, he could become the oldest man to win a Grand Slam singles title. Finally, he would aim to equal Roger Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon crowns.
