Alexander Zverev claimed the tournament directors are deliberately slowing the courts just to benefit Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. Zverev is in Shanghai, participating in the penultimate Masters 1000 of the season.
The third seed went past Valentin Royer in straight sets. During the on-court interview, Sascha echoed Roger Federer‘s sentiments about the speed of the courts. The Swiss maestro, during the Laver Cup, had claimed that the tournaments are intentionally slowing the courts so that only those who can play aggressive tennis can challenge Sinner, and this, in turn, could see finals between the World No.1 and World No.2.
I hate when [court seeds are] the same. And I know that the tournament directors are going towards that direction because obviously they want Jannik and Carlos to do well every tournament… We always had different surfaces; you couldn’t play the same tennis the same way on a grass court, hard court, and a clay court. Nowadays, you can play almost the same way on every surface.

So far this season, Alcaraz and Sinner have featured in five finals, starting from the Italian Open. Sinner won just once- at Wimbledon, losing in Rome, Paris, Cincinnati, and New York. Zverev, who is still searching for his second title of the season after his victory at the BMW Open, will next be locking horns with Arthur Rinderknech in the third round of the Shanghai Masters.
Alcaraz recently clinched his maiden Japan Open title, but is not in Shanghai because of an ankle injury. He is next scheduled to play the Paris Masters, where last year his run ended in the third round.
Sinner is bidding to defend his Shanghai Masters title. He defeated Novak Djokovic in the final last year, but this year, he is projected to lock horns with the Serb in the semifinals.
Fans accuse Alexander Zverev of making excuses after his complaint about slower courts
Alexander Zverev‘s comment regarding the court speed did not go down well with the fans of both Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. They think Zverev is making excuses because the two youngsters are winning tournaments one after the other.

Ironically, that should help Sascha too. Because he is the GOAT one-dimensional player out there.

Unfortunately, he will never be able to win a slam and he knows it. So now blaming it on the courts, rather than applauding the brilliance of his opponents.
Zverev is a loser. So desperate to be in the conversation with Carlos and Sinner. He is not even close. An entirely different level of play from them

They've been apparently slowing court speed for years and people have been complaining for many years. All of a sudden they are doing it for Sincaraz final that just became a big thing this year? What kind of stupid propaganda is that. It doesn't even make any sense.

But at least one of Sincaraz is alway making nearly all the finals regardless of what type of surface and speed. This is all desperate copium from Zverev and co.

He doesn’t make any sense lmao. Now it’s a say in everyone’s mouth just because it’s better pretending Jannik and Carlos are miles above them because of the courts

This take is so stupid. You’re all playing in the same court conditions! Improve yourself. Two people keep getting to the finals because they’re better. Simple.

Zverev just looking for excuses because he knows he can't really beat Alcaraz or Sinner anymore and won't win any slam.

At the Shanghai Masters, Sinner knocked out Daniel Altmaier and is scheduled to next lock horns with Tallon Griekspoor. Sinner is chasing his fourth title of the season after his victory at the Australian Open (beat Zverev), Wimbledon, and the China Open.
The four-time Grand Slam champion will reclaim his No.1 ranking if he defends the Shanghai Masters and wins the Vienna Open. He was dethroned from the top by Alcaraz after the latter’s US Open win.
Patrick Mouratoglou lauds Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner after their ATP 500 wins
Alcaraz chose not to play the China Open to defend his title and instead made his debut at the Japan Open. He stopped Sinner from defending the China Open last year, but this time, the 24-year-old was successful in clinching his second title in the tournament.

Alcaraz went past Taylor Fritz in straight sets in Tokyo, while Sinner breezed past Learner Tien. Serena Williams‘ former coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, said there’s something that the two Grand Slam champions do better than others on the tour.
I see their level of confidence when it comes to the big moments. They raise their level where everybody drops their level. I don’t know if they’re going to play every single tournament before the end of this year, but if they play, they will win.

After the Shanghai Masters, both Sinner and Alcaraz will play the Six Kings Slam, an exhibition event in Riyadh, scheduled to start on October 15. Last year, Sinner took home the $6 million prize money by beating Alcaraz.
