Alexander Zverev has explored his social media habits during important Grand Slam events. The German played in the Australian Open final this year, where he lost to Jannik Sinner in straight sets.
Despite his loss, Zverev has shown how he manages his social media during Grand Slam tournaments. The two-time ATP Finals champion claims that he switches off his phone so that no followers can reach him during these critical weeks.
Honestly, if you lose a match and people have bet on you, social media can become a slaughterhouse. During the most important tournaments, i.e. the Grand Slams, my smartphone is turned off. No one can reach me or get to me. The people closest to me are around me anyway. These are my family, my coaches, and my girlfriend. I just try not to worry about anyone else. Because the more you read, the more you doubt yourself. For example, maybe my forehand or my serve aren’t good enough. Maybe Carlos Alcaraz is just too good for me.
Alexander Zverev said in an interview to Tennis Channel
Zverev has played in three Grand Slam finals in his career. His first was at the 2020 US Open, where he lost to Dominic Thiem despite being two sets up. Then, he lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the 2024 Roland Garros final after leading two sets to one.
However, his loss in the 2025 Australian Open final against Jannik Sinner was more straightforward. The German is now preparing to return to ATP action at the Miami Masters following an early exit at Indian Wells.
Alexander Zverev shares one thing he does better than Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz
World No. 2 Alexander Zverev has been a model of consistency in 2024. Despite not winning any Grand Slam titles, he managed to finish ahead of Carlos Alcaraz in the ATP rankings. Even with the dominance of Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in Grand Slams, Zverev revealed certain aspects in which he believes he is better than them.

I think there are certain shots in my game which I still need to improve. I still think Carlos and Jannik do things a lot better than me. I do believe that. I think there are certain things I can improve on. I serve better than both of them probably, but I am 6ft 6. Carlos can’t just grow six more inches. But there are certain things that they do better that I can improve and it’s not just something physical, like height.
Alexander Zverev told his brother on his podcastt
Zverev has not been able to match Alcaraz and Sinner in Grand Slam success. The duo currently holds all four Grand Slam titles. Sinner is the reigning champion of the Australian Open and the US Open, while Alcaraz holds the Wimbledon and Roland Garros titles.
Although Zverev did not reach any Grand Slam finals in 2024, he secured two Masters 1000 titles. His only Grand Slam final appearance in 2024 came at Roland Garros, where he lost to Alcaraz in a five-set battle.
Alexander Zverev heaps praise on Jannik Sinner
German tennis star Alexander Zverev has praised World No. 1 Jannik Sinner. The World No. 2 believes that Sinner’s evolution is mainly due to his coach, Darren Cahill.

This is where Jannik has improved so much over the last years. It’s incredible. He has a game plan every time he walks on court with someone and I feel he would rather lose with a set game plan than go off course and try and be creative or something like that. I feel like I have to give Darren Cahill tremendous props for that. Jannik has always had the weapons. He always had the forehand. He always had the backhand. He has improved serve a lot. We don’t need to talk about that.

Cahill has confirmed that the 2025 season will be his final one as Sinner’s coach. The Australian has also stated that Sinner will be the last player he coaches in his professional career.
Zverev and Sinner most recently faced each other in the 2025 Australian Open final, where the Italian won in straight sets. This victory placed Sinner alongside Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic as players who have successfully defended the Australian Open title.
However, that was Sinner’s only major achievement in 2025, as he is currently serving a suspension from WADA. He has been handed a three-month ban due to a doping case from Indian Wells last year.
