Aljamain Sterling was a former UFC bantamweight king with the most consecutive divisional title defenses in history. He is now also finding success as a 145-pounder, spreading his wins. Despite a moderately successful run so far, ‘Funk Master’ has presented the fight game got no funk. Getting girls as professional combat sports athletes? That’s not something Sterling thinks grumpy, ‘testosterone’ guys get good at over time.

Make no mistake – Sterling is very happy with his own fiancée. However, on a common scaling, the fighter doesn’t consider UFC/MMA to be a zinger like the NFL or the NBA. First of all, there is the pay disparity; even boxing’s undercard names make dough at that level. Secondly, hydration and weight-cut issues leave a mark on pre-fight mood and health; sometimes even post-fight. Aljamain Sterling thinks those aren’t ideal for scoring outside, in life.

[Biggest misconception] That we get a lot of girls attention, girl attention. It’s a bunch of dudes…It’s not the NBA. It’s not the NFL players. It’s not the soccer guys, baseball. Those guys get M’s. We get a couple thousands, and hopefully you make an M. Right?

The fight game is characterized by outside meltdowns, bar crawls-and-brawls, DUIs, unlawful run-ins, and so on. The former UFC champion also emphasized on the mental aspect of the fight game.

So it’s a very different lifestyle that you would get with that. And we’re pretty grumpy people…So I don’t know if there’s a lot of females that want to deal with that, because we’re cutting weight and things like that, and you’re going to have to actually work and take care of us to maintain your spot. But, yeah, it’s a lot of dudes.

Sterling, however, has made it work for himself with moderate temper and windfalls. His N01 Jamaican rum ‘Funk Harbor’ is quite the hit among alcohol beverage purists. The former UFC champ and 2-time NCAA Division III All-American wrestler is also an Estate Salesperson for Iaquinta Premier Properties.

As for his UFC tenure, Aljo made his featherweight debut dominating Calvin Kattar in last April’s milestone pay-per-view offering. Then he also made a mark against top contender Movsar Evloev in an all-out wrestling showing.

Sterling has made quite the name for himself and has designs to expand on it in the 145-pound class; currently, he has Diego Lopes in mind. While he believes MMA pay scales do not warrant scoring a girl, that doesn’t stop cheeky Aljo from poking or shooting his shot.

Aljamain Sterling gives cheeky dig to Rhea Ripley’s top mount on MMA content creator Nina-Marie Daniele

TKO Group Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: TKO), along with UFC® and PBR, got three nights of entertainment in, starting at Kansas City. The TKO takeover shot off pure bliss for combat fans, with major events in the pipeline till April 28. April 19 and 20 marked a significant dump of Easter weekend before that for the pro wrestling fandom. WrestleMania 41, a two-night event, took form from the Allegiant Stadium LV, NV.

Then-former-WWE women’s champion Rhea Ripley was in town along with model-turned-MMA journo Nina-Marie Daniele. Ripley’s WWE resume has cemented her as one of the greatest names in this era. The 28-year-old is a former RAW Brand Women’s Champion, two-time Women’s Champ, Women’s Tag Team, and even a Royal Rumble winner.

Hence, Daniele was elated for a content collaboration with Ripley. They filmed a video for YouTube with the title “Rhea Ripley teaches me how to wrestle.” Daniele plugged the content on X, placing Ripley on top with her legs close to her face for a piling mount. It caught a zesty reply from UFC featherweight Aljamain Sterling.

Ripley was also on-hand at the Kaseya Center for the UFC 314 PPV card and Aussie fellow Alexander Volkavoski’s title win. She was cage side along with her husband and pro wrestler, Buddy Matthews. With Aussie talents like Jack Della Maddalena rising to the top, Ripley will be seen at UFC PPV events supporting her compatriots.
