Aljamain Sterling called out Brian Ortega at UFC 300 after his impressive win. There is no rivalry in this matchup after Sterling respectfully called him out at the post-fight press conference. Subsequently, Ortega took to social media and revealed that he is open to his next matchup.
Aljamain Sterling recently moved up a weight class and made his featherweight debut at UFC 300. After an incredible performance against Calvin Kattar, his next target in the division is Brian Ortega. Ortega’s last fight was in February against Yair Rodriguez and it looks like he too is looking for his next opponent.

Sterling was very humble in his approach and revealed that he and Ortega worked with the same management and had previously trained with each other one time. Sterling emphasized that there was no bad blood between them but rather a common goal.
Sterling won the fight against Kattar by unanimous decision which he was not really satisfied with. He revealed that if he wanted to beat the division champion Ilia Topuria for the title, he had to finish the fight rather than win by decision. However, now it will be interesting to see how Aljo navigates the division to get to the world title against Topuria before somebody else does.
Michael Bisping found Aljamain Sterling’s performance “boring” and “uneventful”
Michael Bisping recently commented on the Aljamain Sterling vs. Calvin Kattar showdown at UFC 300 and he was not impressed. The UFC commentator was not very critical of the former champion but he did highlight the cautious approach that Sterling took in this matchup. Bisping said that although effective against Kattar, it would not help set up the title rematch against Sean O’Malley that Sterling desperately wanted.
Michael Bisping addressed the matchup and talked about Sterling’s performance on his YouTube channel. The UFC Hall of Famer had some pointers for the former bantamweight champion.
That ain’t going to do it, didn’t even get him a post-fight interview. Now I don’t know if that’s because of time constraints or whatever but it was a little bit on the boring side sadly. No offense Aljo you’re the man but that wasn’t a thrilling fight, let’s be honest.Michael Bisping via his YouTube channel
Although Bisping was not the biggest fan of Aljamain Sterling’s safe approach, he acknowledged how Sterling proved to be the better wrestler who took down Kattar time and time again. The highlight of the match was when Sterling picked Kattar up near the fence and hit an incredible pile driver on his knees.
