PSG announced the appointment of their new manager Christophe Galtier just 2 days back as they bid goodbye to Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine enjoyed domestic success with the club but could get them ahead when it came to Champions League.

Newly appointed sporting director, Luis Campos already have Christophe Galtier in mind when he took over at Park de Princes. Campos was an integral part of the success behind Monaca in 2017 while the duo worked together at Lille when the club won the Ligue 1 during the 2021-21 season.

Christophe Galtier: The new PSG manager known for bringing success to small clubs

Throughout his career, Christophe Galtier has managed clubs in France. He started with Olympique Marseille and has worked his way up to PSG, one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

However, it was always the smaller clubs where he enjoyed most of his success. In 2013, the Frenchman helped Saint-Etienne to their first-ever French League Cup. It was also their first trophy since gaining promotion back in 2004.

Galtier’s next biggest success came with Lille. The 55 took over the club when it was in 18th place in the 2017-18 season and managed to escape relegation by just 1 point. He then went on to make Lille one of the best clubs in Europe, finishing top 4 for 2 consecutive seasons before winning the Ligue 1 trophy in the 2020-21 season.

Galtier then moved to OGN Nice where he helped the club reach their first-ever Coupe de France final since 1997. The manager lost the final to his new club, PSG. Now with Paris Saint-Germain, the 55-year-old will be aiming for European success with a world-class squad at his disposal.
