Conor McGregor hasn’t stepped inside the octagon for more than three years now. The ‘Notorious’ has shown no signs of his potential comeback in the recent months. While fans are still waiting for his UFC return, former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira doesn’t think it’s going to happen.

McGregor recently made headlines after meeting US President Donald Trump at the White House. During his visit, the fighter shared his concerns about Ireland’s immigration policies and its government’s inefficiencies. Following the meltdown, Oliveira gave an interview where he rejected the idea of McGregor coming back to compete again.

He’s done everything he wanted to do in the sport and now he’s choosing to live his life the way he’s living it…I think fans should forget about Conor McGregor coming back, he’s not going to fight again.

Oliveira once showed interest in fighting the ‘Notorious’ due to the massive paycheck, but McGregor’s promises have lost credibility. Michael Chandler wasted two years waiting for McGregor, proving that chasing him is pointless, which made other fighters stop calling him out. Now, McGregor’s once-desirable fight opportunities are seen as unreliable, and top contenders prefer securing real fights instead of chasing false promises.

UFC CEO Dana White, who was previously positive about McGregor’s comeback, now has no idea what’s going to happen. On top of that, the ‘Mystic Mac’ has been surrounded by various controversial incidents, including the s*xual assault civil lawsuit from 2024. Given his ongoing antics, it’s hard to believe that McGregor is thinking about his ultimate comeback fight anytime soon.

McGregor’s relationship with the UFC is strained after he recently explored options to leave his contract for more business freedom. Focused on growing BKFC, he aims to compete with the UFC, expanding his influence in the fight promotion industry aggressively. He has also hinted at a potential BKFC debut, but nothing is officially confirmed, leaving fans curious about his next move.

Why is Conor McGregor not focused on his professional career?

During his inactivity, Conor McGregor focused more of his time on expanding his business. From his Hollywood debut to his several new business ventures, the fighter made sure to maintain his name to the fullest. On top of that, he became very much interested in Ireland’s politics and showed interest in becoming the president.

McGregor has been vocal about Ireland’s government, criticizing its policies on crime, immigration, and handling of recent riots. During his recent visit to Washington, D.C., he gave an interview directly calling out Ireland’s Prime Minister for failing to address these issues. His political stance has divided fans, with some supporting him and others distancing themselves.

Every available metric has shown the government of Ireland has failed the people of Ireland. In ten years, Dublin City center has gone from one of the safest cities in Europe to one of the most dangerous. So, shame on him(Ireland’s Prime Minister) for saying that, speaking down on the Irishman.

While the ‘Mystic Mac’ is extremely passionate about saving Ireland from illegal immigration, his popularity back home has taken a major hit. Due to his legal troubles, people are now publicly condemning him for r*pe. His occasional, brash, and arrogant behavior is also a major reason for his decline in popularity.

Once celebrated as Ireland’s biggest superstar, McGregor’s public image has shifted significantly. However, the ‘Notorious’ remains unwavering in expressing his beliefs. For many fight fans, simply following his online activity is entertaining in itself.
