“I think (I’ll miss) the training (the most),” Silva said. “Preparing my mind, preparing my body. This I think is most important and I feel sad because I don’t have this anymore. This is the last one.”

Silva(34-10) fought last against potential middleweight title contender Jared Cannonier, where he lost the fight. Despite being 1-7 in his last 8 fights, Silva looks to go out with a bang. He said he’s trying to keep focused on the fight, and not all the outside elements.

With a long career of 23 years, Silva came into the UFC in 2006 when he quickly rose to fame by delivering a 49 second knockout to Chris Leben. Over the course of his long career, Silva broke many records and carved his name on stone as one of the best MMA fighters of all time. Silva reached remarkable feats such as setting the promotion’s consecutive wins record (16), and having the second most title defenses (10) in company history behind Demetrious Johnson (11).

Anderson Silva: “Hall is a very interesting opponent”

Silva vs Hall

In the interview, with Silva sharing his thoughts on his last fight, the former middleweight champion also shed some light on his next and final opponent, Uriah Hall. He said Hall is a “very interesting” opponent for him, especially after a match-up between the two was called off at UFC 198 in May 2016.

Hall is 8-7 in the UFC and 15-9 in MMA. Silva said he’s a fan of the match-up with Hall, however, and thinks it’s caters well to him riding out into the sunset on a high. Silva shared his admiration for Hall and feels Hall is a good match for his last fight.

“I can’t say, ‘Oh, this fight goes to the ground, this fight is done in the standup,’” Silva said. “It’s two good strikers. Uriah’s a very, very athletic guy and has a good technique in the striking and I try to do my best. I try do to the best show for my fans.”

Adesanya and Silva

After a long career with being the king of the middleweights for a long time, there is no doubt that “The Spider” has etched his name in history. And there is also no doubt that because of Silva, many started their journey as an athlete. The biggest example being UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya. Silva will definitely be a future UFC Hall of Famer and one of the greatest to ever step inside the Octagon.
