Israel Adesanya talks about the conversation he had with Paulo Costa’s coach after UFC 253
Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa went head to head in arguably the most hyped Middleweight division fight at UFC 253. With a lot of bad blood between the two fighters, both looked to knock each other out cold. However, UFC middleweight champion Adesanya defeated Costa’s stint as an undefeated fighter and also his chance to win the gold.
Adesanya put on a clinical performance against Costa with his beautiful striking and skill set, leaving the doubters in awe. As he defeated Costa via TKO in round 2, Adesanya not just mocked Costa but his team too.
Adesanya reveals the exact conversation: “I said something nice”
In a recent interview with Combat TV. “The Last Stylebender” asked about a lot of questions in regard to UFC 253. One of them included what exact conversation the champion had with Costa’s coach after defending his title.
“I said something nice, I said I like what you did with Henry Cejudo…and he said to me we are coming for Volkanovski next”.
With UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski being a good friend of Adesanya, he did not take this lightly. Adesanya was not at all impressed by Costa’s coach’s behavior. Called his words “ a sh*t thing to do while your fighter is knocked out”.
Even after the fight, Adesanya went on to troll the Brazilian mercilessly. However in the interview, he stated that he has no more problems against Paulo Costa. After the fight, Adesanya did message Costa about his coaches about the fight. Saying he has a lot of “yes men” in his corner that led to his undefeated streak being over in September.
What’s next for the champ
After his successful title defense against Paulo Costa, Adesanya is not in a mood to rush. The fight between former champion Robert Whittaker and Jared Cannonier is set to be the co-main event for UFC 254. The winner of the match will be the number 1 contender to fight for the middleweight championship against Adesanya. Adesanya has shown more interest in fighting Cannonier next and wants to do it “Naruto-Sasuke style.”
Will Adesanya become the greatest middleweight of all time?
