Andrey Rublev has admitted that he has struggled with depression which has affected his on-court performance. Rublev revealed this after his 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 quarterfinal win against World No.1 Jannik Sinner

Rublev has often invited criticism for losing his cool on the court as he has time and again smashed his racket and even hurt himself. As he was struggling with depression, it was difficult for him to control himself this year.

What am I talking about when I say I've had a hard time in recent months? Mentally, I wasn't in order. I don't know how you can say it. I think it was already a long time, and I started to get exhausted because I struggled for many years with depression, with a lot of things off the court.
Andrey Rublev said at the press conference

Rublev added that this year, he was able to stay calm off the court, which wasn’t the case when he was playing. The 26-year-old Russian also feels that he is currently doing good, which is why he is able to play good tennis.

At Wimbledon this year, Rublev hit his knee with his racket multiple times before crashing out of the tournament. He was up against Argentina’s Francisco Comesana when an error angered him and as a result, he hurt his knee.

Andrey Rublev played two matches in one day

Both Jannik Sinner and Andrey Rublev played their second matches on August 10 due to rain delays. While Sinner, who was playing his first tournament since his quarterfinal loss at Wimbledon, defeated Alejandro Tabilo 6-4, 6-3, Rublev did not face much problems against the USA’s Brandon Nakashima, beating him with scores of 6-2, 6-2.

When asked at the press conference about playing two matches in one day, Rublev did not complain, as he pointed out no player can do anything about the rain, and it’s up to the organizers to plan something if rain plays spoilsport.

Two matches in one day? It's not easy. But we know that's part of our sport. We can't do anything about it. We can't control the weather.
Andrey Rublev said at the press conference

The victory over Sinner was his third one in eight encounters. Rublev is set to lock horns with Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi on August 11. It will be their third meeting on the ATP tour, having previously clashed at the 2024 Roland Garros and 2023 Vienna Open.
