Andy Murray‘s post-retirement plan to be engaged with a tennis center of his own in his hometown of Dunblane seems to be falling apart as the construction of the facility has been scrapped. Visibly disappointed, the Scot had a sarcastic reaction in response to a social media post that shared the news. 

Murray and his mother Judy were heavily involved in the construction of a tennis center that would carry on the four-time Grand Slam champion’s legacy. The plan involved the establishment of several amenities like a six-hole golf course and a driving range in addition to the actual coaching facilities.

It has been reported that the plan was scrapped over planning issues and rising costs. Murray was clearly unhappy with the news, as was evident in his response.

The idea, which was put forth almost a decade ago, had been opposed from the time of its inception by the ‘Residents Against Greenbelt Erosion’ who believed that the tennis academy was being used as a cover to build luxury housing on a green belt area.
