Andy Murray played his last doubles match at 2024 Wimbledon with his brother Jamie Murray in an emotionally charged atmosphere on the famous Centre Court in front of his family and big names in tennis. During his farewell speech, he tried to fight back tears when he paid tribute to his parents and wife.
When he shifted his focus on his wife, Kim Sears, the court erupted in laughter as he reminisced about the first time he met her at the age of 18 in New York. Murray recalled the embarrassing moment when he vomited twice during his US Open match with Sears watching his game for the first time.
We met for the first time at age 18. Kim’s dad is a tennis coach. We met in New York. We went for dinner at the US Open. I choked a bit the first time we went out. I walked her home to her hotel. I asked her for her email address. I don’t think that’s a normal thing to do. She came to watch my first match live at the US Open. I vomited twice in that match. I then stood up and vomited on my opponent's racket bag.Andy Murray said in his speech
Murray added that the vomiting part did not make her like him less and that’s how he knew he could have a long relationship with her.
She still seemed to like me. I knew she was a keeper after that. She’s been an amazing support to me and my whole family. She’s the best mom.Andy Murray added

Murray then joked that things between them may start to change as they will see each other often after his retirement. But he is looking forward to the rest of their lives and is hoping that everything will be good in the end.
Andy Murray will still play at Wimbledon
Though Andy Murray and his brother Jamie Murray lost the match to Australian doubles pair John Peers and Rinky Hijikata in straight sets 7-6(8-6), 6-4, he will be joining Emma Raducanu for the mixed doubles matches and will hope to have a good run.
Murray and Raducanu, who received the wild cards, paired up for the first time in their career. And while Murray has experience playing mixed doubles at Wimbledon, Raducanu will be playing her only second doubles match of her career.
Their match is scheduled to start on Saturday (July 6) against the team of Marcelo Arevalo and Zhang Shuai. If the pair from Britain loses the match, it will be Murray’s final match at the SW19.
