Andy Roddick has slammed a social media user for spreading false narratives about the US Open men’s singles draw. Someone on X pointed out that the US Open officials intentionally gave Jannik Sinner a tough draw because they wanted Carlos Alcaraz to win his third Grand Slam of the year.
The US Open men’s singles draw placed Sinner, Alcaraz, and Daniil Medvedev in the top half and the same quarter of the draw. However, it will be a long road before they meet each other in the latter stages of the tournament.
Sinner will open his US Open campaign against American Mackenzie McDonald. He will likely face home favorite Alex Michelsen in the second round before a possible meeting with Swiss legend Stan Wawrinka in the third round.
On the other hand, Alcaraz will play Australian qualifier Li Tu in the first round. He will face either Denis Shapovalov or Botic van De Zandschulp. His first major opponent will likely be British Jack Draper in the third round.
From the look of things, both Sinner and Alcaraz were relatively similar draws till the Round of 16. This led tennis legend Roddick to slam the fan, who had stated that Sinner was given the hardest draw of all.
So anytime anything happens that any tennis fan doesn’t like now they just say establishment ……. It’s so dumb and gives leadership in tennis too much credit. They could never organize this well :) Draws are random. This conspiracy shit at every turn is so boring at this point.Andy Roddick said on X

Meanwhile, Sinner could likely face Medvedev in the quarterfinals of the US Open, which will be a rematch of the 2024 Wimbledon quarterfinals. If the Italian does win the match, he might play Alcaraz in the semifinals.
Carlos Alcaraz focused on bouncing back from Cincinnati Open disappointment at the US Open
Carlos Alcaraz will be hoping to bounce back from the early exit at the Cincinnati Open when he takes to the court for the US Open. The 21-year-old was stunned by the 37-year-old Gael Monfils 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-4 in the second round of the Masters 1000 event. During the match, he even showed his frustrations by repeatedly smashing his racket on the hard court.
The Spaniard has experienced an unforgettable summer, winning the French Open, Wimbledon, and the singles silver medal at the Paris Olympics. He has now turned his attention to the year’s final Grand Slam while also working toward his goal of finishing the season as the World No. 1.
I'm focused on going to every tournament, thinking about playing great tennis, doing a good result to get better in the race. Ending the year as number one is one of my main goals.Carlos Alcaraz said (via Reuters)
Alcaraz is currently the World No. 3 and winning the US Open will give him enough ranking points to close the gap between him and Jannik Sinner at the top. Winning his first ATP Finals title in November will then help him accomplish his dream.
