Emma Raducanu has pulled out of the US Open. The champion in New York back in 2021, Raducanu will be skipping a Grand Slam tournament for the second time this year following Wimbledon.
Raducanu played at the Australian Open and suffered a second-round defeat at the hands of Anastasia Potapova. Then at the French Open, her run ended in the first round with a straight-set defeat to Solana Sierra.
Raducanu reached the final of the Queen’s Club Championships, only to lose to Donna Vekic. She next withdrew from the Nottingham Open and arrived at Wimbledon, hoping to make a deep run. But she was forced to withdraw due to a lower right-leg stress fracture. Reacting to her withdrawal, former ATP World No.1 Andy Roddick said this on his Served podcast:
We might not even see her for the rest of this year. It just stinks because she is so good and it’s just the stop-and-start of things. You can’t get around a stress fracture, that’s not a pain tolerance thing at all. It has to heal; otherwise, you are going to cause extreme long-term damage. It just stinks. She could be such a bright spot for the Tours, and it just seems like there are speed bumps all the time, which is just unfortunate.
At the Queen’s, Raducanu reached the third final of her career. Earlier this year at the Transylvania Open, the Brit played her first final since her fairytale run at the 2021 US Open and lost the title to Sorana Cirstea.
It sucks. I hope she gets better. She was playing great at Queen’s too, like she was going to blow the roof off of Wimbledon. She is so good and so injured all the time.
Andy Roddick added
The only title that the 23-year-old has so far lifted in her career is the 2021 US Open.
Andy Roddick on Alexandra Eala’s Citi Open win
Alexandra Eala finally lifted her career’s first WTA title at the Citi Open with a three-set win over home favorite Jessica Pegula. The win made Eala the first Filipina to clinch a tour-level title.

Eala is one of the most consistent players on the tour, and her latest win took her to a career-best No.20 ranking. Reacting to her win, Andy Roddick, on his Served podcast, said the 21-year-old has it in her to become a top 10 player.
I don’t even think it’s a one-time thing where you are surprised. She is now entering the phase where you are not judging a singular performance where you are saying that’s exciting because that’s the ceiling. She is now in the consistency game where you are expecting her to be pretty good all the time. It’s now, can you do it every week? That’s when you start talking about a top 10 player.
It was the second time Eala played a tour-level final, following the 2025 Eastbourne International, where she lost to Maya Joint. En route to her win over Pegula, Eala eliminated Qinwen Zheng, Elina Svitolina, and four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka.
At present, Eala is in Toronto for the Canadian Open, where she lost in the first round on her debut last year. She will face home favorite Alycia Parks in the first round. Reigning Canadian champion Victoria Mboko is not competing due to a knee injury.
Eala produced her best WTA 1000 performance at the 2025 Miami Open, where she lost to eventual runner-up Pegula in the semifinals. After the Canadian Open, Eala is expected to make her debut in Cincinnati, following which she will compete at the US Open, where she lost in the second round last year.
