Other players around the league are also tuning in to watch the showdown. But for Angel Reese, game four made her emotional.

The Chicago Sky star’s season ended early due to a wrist injury. The aftermath of it was that her team could not make it to the playoffs. But the run of emotions was not out of the regret of not playing in the postseason. She revealed what affected her mid-game on her X account.

It brings forth her marketability as a basketball player and a star. She has leveraged record-breaking performances on the court to increase her fan following continuously. Angel Reese did not mention which commercial it was, as there are quite a few from the multiple endorsements she has signed up for.

But for a women’s basketball player to achieve this much is also a dream, as she put it. As such, these levels of marketing have never been seen in the WNBA before. The Chicago Sky star is blazing a trail on how to market and build her brand.

Angel Reese and Chicago Sky’s tumultuous end to 2024 season could jeopardize her chances of reaching WNBA finals

Until the Olympic break, Angel Reese and her Chicago Sky were 10-14 with a foot on the playoff ladder. After returning from the Olympic break, the team went back and forth on a loss and a win. Then, they lost seven straight before Reese’s last game of her season heroics won them the next one.

That game and the subsequent win were against the league’s worst teams. Seeing this, the Sky front office fired first-year head coach Teresa Weatherspoon. ‘T-Spoon,’ as she is known affectionately, was very close with her star rookie, and therefore, the former LSU star was subsequently hurt by T-Spoon’s firing.

That brings the franchise back to square one. They are yet to hire a head coach and could see possibly a few players leaving due to the turmoil in the organization. It’s not a good situation if Angel Reese wants to play in the WNBA Finals.
