Anthony Edwards is excited to team up with idol Kevin Durant for Olympics as part of Team USA

Anthony Edwards already has experience playing for Team USA in the FIBA Championship last year. As he gets ready to suit up again, he is looking forward to teaming up with his idol Kevin Durant at the Olympics. He revealed his excitement after calling Durant the GOAT recently.

Edwards recently sat down with Complex in an interview. The Minnesota Timberwolves superstar was asked about what he is looking forward to in the Paris Olympics.

It's super fun, man. I get to play alongside my favorite player of all time, which is Kevin Durant. But also I get to play alongside LeBron, Steph Curry, all the goats, man. So, it should be fun.

Edwards knows this Team USA lineup is gunning for glory after his FIBA team were humiliated in the World Championship last year. And what better way than to play alongside his idol Kevin Durant on the biggest stage of all sports?

Anthony Edwards is a fan of Durant. Having maintained his appreciation for the 6′ 11″ superstar throughout his career, it will be the first time Edwards will be able to play alongside Durant. Although they have been on the same All-Star team, it is not a competitive environment by any means.

Being able to join the Phoenix Suns superstar in a battle to earn back the elite status of Team USA will be different. Edwards cannot also contain his excitement of playing alongside LeBron James and Stephen Curry on the same team. He will, however, meet his idol face-to-face when the playoff battles commence 2 days later.

Anthony Edwards and Kevin Durant to face off in the 1st round

Anthony Edwards has already played against Kevin Durant a few times in his short NBA career. However, starting Saturday, the stakes will be a lot bigger. After all, the superstar-laden Phoenix Suns will be looking to ensure that their season is salvaged. On the other hand, Edwards and his Minnesota Timberwolves teammates will want to prove that their conference-leading run this season was not a fluke.

Edwards knows how good his idol is in playoff situations. He and his teammates will obviously be wary of Durant taking over any game in their 1st round playoff series. They know the outcome if that happens, as the 2-time Finals MVP has predicated his career on his relentless scoring.

Whatever happens at the end of the series, Edwards or Durant will move on to their next chapter in the playoffs. But it will not change the rising superstar’s affinity to his idol.
