“Let him know I sent him home!” Anthony Edwards reacts to sweeping idol Kevin Durant’s Phoenix Suns in first round

Anthony Edwards talks about Kevin Durant

The Minnesota Timberwolves swept the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. Anthony Edwards was the star of the series as he sent Kevin Durant, his idol, crashing out in the first round, something KD’s not accustomed to.

Nonetheless, Edwards and Durant will play together for Team USA for the Olympic Gold. Interestingly, Edwards is keen on playing with his idol. He revealed as such in his post-match interview with NBA on TNT. Edwards has trash-talked Durant throughout the series and might have the same attitude in the summer.

It felt great. I got the utmost respect for KD… I’m excited to play with him this summer, talk a little trash and let him know I sent him home.

Edwards also revealed he has watched every game of Kevin Durant since he was 4. Moreover, Durant had nothing but praise for Edwards. Even when many thought Ant-Man disrespected KD, the 2-time NBA champion felt his young adversary had every right to do so. The Timberwolves are now the first team to enter the quarterfinals of the playoffs in 2024.

In the semi-finals, they would likely face Denver Nuggets who are 3-1 against the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round. After Durant, Ant-Man would be eager to slay Nikola Jokic in the quarters. The Nuggets are 2-2 against the Timberwolves in the regular season but Jokic had a 40-point game in their last match.

Anthony Edwards credits Game 4 victory to Karl-Anthony Towns

Devin Booker had a 49-point game, supported by Kevin Durant’s 33 points but it was not enough against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Leading by just 5 points in the first half, impressive performances of Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns kept the lead as the Phoenix Suns looked to get a second wind. The game ended with a 122-116 scorecard.

Edwards had a 40-point game in the match with 9 rebounds and 6 assists. However, he credited the victory to his team who played high-level basketball for 48 minutes. Even though he top-scored for his team, he did not believe he was the reason why they won.

The most satisfying moment of the night for me, I would say, is Kat [Karl Anthony-Towns]. Yeah, it was Kat, man. Like, a lot of people think it was me. The reason we won, man. Without Kat in that second half, we wouldn't have been close to winning, man. So big shout out to Kat, man. He played his a** off tonight.

Towns had a 28-point game with 10 rebounds and 3 assists. It was the best performance for Kat as he scored his first over 20-point game in the series in game 4. In addition to Kat, Jaden McDaniels had an 18-point game.
