Anthony Edwards thinks ‘it’s dope’ that everyone wants LeBron James and the Lakers to win playoffs
Anthony Edwards and his Minnesota Timberwolves will face-off against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Anthony Edwards and LeBron James will face-off in the first round
Anthony Edwards and his Minnesota Timberwolves have managed to make the playoffs after a lackluster start to their season. However, they will go up against a Los Angeles Lakers team that has LeBron James and Luka Doncic headlining it.
The Timberwolves are physically bigger and more athletic than the Lakers. But the men in purple and gold have the playoff experience to overcome those obstacles. Moreover, Doncic has defeated Edwards and his crew last season in the Western Conference Finals. He will be sharing those notes with his team.
On the flip side, the Timberwolves are the more in-form team. Their record starting from March is much better than the Lakers. The latter though, are no slouches themselves, as they have proved time and again that they can turn the tables on anyone. They have displayed an ability to adjust on the fly based on what the opposition is revealing.
They are utilizing Bronny James to simulate Anthony Edwards in their practices. All of this has reinforced the notion that the Lakers are one step ahead. Edwards knows that the national media has picked on that notion and are projecting that the Lakers will win.
I just love it, it’s dope. I love the fact that everybody wants the lakers to win. That’s how it’s supposed to be, they don’t want the Timberwolves to win. I get it.

The 23-year-old understands that the national media will not pick the Minnesota Timberwolves to win their first-round matchup. He smilingly agreed to that, seemingly giving off the hint that his team might be relishing their chances as the underdogs.
Anthony Edwards excited to battle LeBron James
This was Anthony Edwards’ response to the questions reporters asked him after Timberwolves practice. While speaking on the topic of the Los Angeles Lakers, a reporter asked him how he envisions his battle against LeBron James would turn out to be.
It means a lot, to be matched up against him. Probably goes down as the greatest player to ever play basketball. Trying to put him out of the playoffs under my belt is going to be a tough one, but it’s going to be a fun run.

He already has defeated his idol, Kevin Durant in a playoff series. That was also a first round matchup as his Minnesota Timberwolves swept the Phoenix Suns. Edwards knows it will be tough against James and the Lakers, but is chomping at the possibility of him being the serial veteran killer.

If he and his Timberwolves do defeat the Lakers, it will be two seasons in a row that the young superstar has defeated one of the Big 3 OGs of the past two decades. Fans and the media want the big dog Lakers to win, but if Edwards’ underdog Wolves can beat them, they will put the world on notice.
Rudy Gobert agrees Wolves are underdogs against Lakers
Anthony Edwards is not the only one who believes that his Minnesota Timberwolves are the underdogs in this first round playoff series. Reporters asked Rudy Gobert the same question, and without hesitating, he said.
I think we are the underdogs, and it’s fine. I think we have a lot of guys in this locker room that have been underdogs their whole life. You know? So, it’s a position that we embrace and I think we embrace it individually and collectively.

The Frenchman believes he is also an underdog. Many of his teammates carry the same feelings about themselves. Therefore, it will not be a surprise if his team comes out on Saturday, April 19th with that mindset when facing the Los Angeles Lakers.
