Anthony Edwards took a hilarious jibe at LeBron James' age.

In his third year in the league, Anthony Edwards made his first NBA All-Star game in 2023. Due to his amazing performance last year, NBA veteran and team captain LeBron James selected Edwards as the number one pick on his roster.

Ahead of the Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Los Angeles Lakers matchup on Sunday, Edwards looked back at the moment.

The 22-year-old revealed being pleasantly surprised that the star chose Edwards first among the best in the league. While on the topic, Edwards hilariously took a jibe at James’s age and called him an uncle.

He came in there talking about some, 'I'm gonna let the young guns do it'. He's getting old man. He's turning into Unc.

The fact that LeBron James is currently the oldest player in the league makes the remark more hilarious. However, the veteran’s 21 years of experience also adds volume to the star’s choice of Edwards. James had the choice to pick some of the most talented players in the league, but the star decided to rely on Edwards as his first pick.

Anthony Edwards showed his potential on Sunday, as the star took the Timberwolves to victory over the Lakers in James’ absence. The athlete played an essential role in the win by scoring 26 points. The win was the team’s 54th of the season, which secured them the first spot in the Western Conference.

LeBron James chose Anthony Edwards to carry the NBA torch

Ant-Man is currently among the best young stars of the NBA, as he leads the top team in the Western Conference. After the veterans of the game decide to retire, Edwards, without a doubt, will become one of the most important names in the league.

Ahead of the game, in an interview with NBA on TNT, James was asked about the player he was most excited about playing with.

I would say Shai, Ant-Man, I feel like those are two of the guys that can continue the torch after I’m done.
