The common saying in the NBA is that the series doesn’t really get going until a road team wins a game, and that is exactly what the Timberwolves did on Monday night. The Wolves were down by as many as 19 points in the first half but mounted a serious comeback to level the game at halftime.

Anthony Edwards was instrumental in their comeback and led the Wolves to an important win on the road. Since being drafted as the number one pick in the 2020 NBA draft, Edwards has elevated himself as one of the best players in the league today.

In their last two seasons, the Wolves have made it to the Western Conference Finals both times. They will be looking to do better this season with Edwards leading the way. The last time the two sides clashed in the playoffs was in the Western Conference Semifinals in 2024. The Wolves came out on top in seven games in an enthralling series.

With a road win under their belt, Edwards sounded optimistic about their chances as the series moves to Minnesota for games three and four. NBA fans took to social media to react to his comments.

With the Timberwolves having the home-court advantage now, they will fancy their chances of a monumental win in the first round. They have beaten the Nuggets before, and they could do so once again.

Chris Finch credits Anthony Edwards’ impact on and off the court

Anthony Edwards has been struggling with his knee towards the end of the regular season. He struggled to get his offense going in game one. He was questionable heading into game two, but was eventually cleared to play and made a difference, as he always does.

The 24-year-old recorded a double-double as he scored 30 points to go along with 10 rebounds. He made a mark on both sides of the court. The shooting guard may not have been very efficient, but he was in attack mode from tip-off.

After the game, Wolves head coach Chris Finch praised Edwards for his performance.

He was awesome. In that period when we were down, he was great on the bench, great leadership, he recognized he had to get into attack mode and get downhill a little bit more. I thought he was outstanding tonight.

Edwards is coming off his best regular season in terms of scoring. In the offseason, he took advice from Michael Jordan on how to improve his offensive game, especially during the playoffs. It could be seen this season as he was averaging 28.8 points, five rebounds and 3.7 assists in 61 appearances.
