- Victor Wembanyama scored 35 points in his playoff debut for the San Antonio Spurs.
- Caitlin Clark expressed her excitement on social media, calling Wembanyama "ridiculous."
- Wembanyama credited his teammates for the performance, emphasizing team spirit over individual accolades.
Victor Wembanyama has been in the NBA for three years. Yet, this is the first time he has played in a playoff game for the San Antonio Spurs.
The 7’4″ center was part of a losing team during his rookie season. But then, in his sophomore year, the team took a leap. If not for his blood clot, all signs suggested they could make it to the postseason.
They even made trades ahead of the deadline to ensure they do not miss out on a chance to give the 22-year-old some experience. After all, the postseason is a completely different animal, as many players have found out.
It is not easy to win with exactly the same mindset, game plans, and level of physicality. As the last postseason proved, it pushes players to the edge.
Victor Wembanyama had once stated that the world was going to find out how motivated he was. Had it not been for that injury, maybe he could have proved last season what he meant. But good things come to those who wait.
Wemby is ridiculous.

After watching the Frenchman explode in his playoff debut, it seems that the WNBA and Indiana Fever superstar could not control her excitement and had to write that on social media.

Caitlin Clark does not post unless she needs to or feels strongly about something. This is possibly the latter, as the two-time WNBA All-Star does not easily get impressed.
Victor Wembanyama put on a show in his playoff debut
Caitlin Clark did not have to wait for the entire game to get over to write this about Victor Wembanyama. She, as did most of the NBA, understood early on how good the center was.
Midway through the first quarter, the lanky big man grabbed an easy rebound and noticed that his path was clear. He sprinted forward, maximizing his ability to cover great distances in a short time with his legs.
But since he was dribbling the basketball, Portland Trail Blazers’ star Deni Avdija caught up and tried to slow Wembanyama. What the Israeli did not realize was that the Spurs’ superstar would use a behind-the-back dribble to create space.
Then, as he tried to drive towards the rim, Avdija did his best to block off the lane. To counter that, the former first-overall pick executed a quick spin move that gave him all the leverage he needed to get an open lane.

The only problem is that the same legs that helped Victor Wembanyama rush up the court became his undoing. He took two steps from inside the three-point line, but even that placed him in a position where others would not be able to attempt a shot, let alone a dunk.
But not the man who loves reading and goes to bed well before curfew. The Le Chesnay, France, native did enough to draw both his hands up so that he could dunk the ball home. No wonder Caitlin Clark chose to express her excitement on X.
Victor Wembanyama stays humble and credits teammates
While Caitlin Clark and the rest of the world were left stunned by Victor Wembanyama’s 35-point performance, the superstar himself did not want to talk too much about it.

I mean, it’s not that much. So, you know, it really reflects the spirit of the team.

This was him showing his humble side, knowing that a win would not be possible without the effort from his teammates. With many more games left in this postseason, Wemby, as he is known, would like to continue on this journey. Only then, maybe he will be satisfied with himself.
