Deontay Wilder vs. Anthony Joshua has been a fight that was supposed to happen but never did. The two heavyweights were once known as the best heavyweight boxers. Both of them were undefeated and had an impressive record of knockouts. However, after Wilder’s career had been going downhill, Joshua decided to give his fellow heavyweight some advice.

Wilder’s career began to take a slump after his trilogy fight against Fury. As such, The Bronze Bomber suffered one draw and two losses out of the three fights, which took him out of boxing for some time. After this, he did make a comeback against Robert Helenius but remained inactive in the ring. Subsequently, Wilder later suffered another loss against Joseph Parker and has now also lost to Zhilei Zhang. This prompted Joshua to comment on his rival’s boxing career.

If you want to fight, fight on, and if you don't want to do it, don't do it anymore; it's just where your heart's at.

Since they have been paired against each other for almost a decade now, Joshua was asked about his thoughts on whether Wilder would return. AJ stated that it is up to Wilder and that he should do what he wants to do. In addition, Joshua remarked that he has a family and a life outside boxing and can choose not to return.

The fight between them was almost going to happen after the Day of Reckoning event. However, AJ defeated his opponent, Otto Wallin, while Wilder lost to Parker. Similarly, since Wilder suffered another loss, he is not expected to fight Joshua anymore.

Lennox Lewis’s message to Deontay Wilder

The former undisputed heavyweight champion, Lennox Lewis, has weighed in on what Wilder should do now with his career. In his recent fight, the Bronze Bomber appeared to be prepared both mentally and physically.

However, this was not enough since the fight ended with him getting knocked out. Before the fight, Wilder had announced that he planned on retiring from boxing if he lost this fight. Hence, he stated that this fight would determine if he still has it or not. As such, Lewis wants Wilder to now stick to his words.

Wilder started boxing at the age of 20 to take care of his daughter, who was severely ill. Subsequently, Lewis believes that Wilder has achieved a lot of success and now can live in peace with his family. Furthermore, the former champion stated that Wilder should retire to avoid any more damage to himself.
