Arman Tsarukyan will be trying his luck at becoming the new lightweight champion at UFC 311 this weekend. The challenger is scheduled to go against the undisputed pound-for-pound king, Islam Makhachev. Going into the fight, the Dagestani is the betting favorite, but, the Armenian star has some special tricks up his sleeves.
Islam Makhachev has proven that he’s the most complete fighter on the UFC roster. The lightweight champion has different ways to finish a fight including knockout as well as submission. While the odds are against Tsarukyan, the Armenian fighter has developed a secret weapon for the fight.
Tsarukyan recently revealed that Makhachev’s conditioning is his biggest weakness. According to the challenger, it was visible in fights against Alexander Volkanovski and Dustin Poirier where the champion had struggled. While Makhachev was able to adapt to those fighters, Tsarukyan plans to not give any chance to recover.

The Armenian star has incredible wrestling and flexibility and was able to go toe to toe against Makhachev back in 2019. It would be interesting to see how both fighters have changed since then.
UFC veteran questions Arman Tsarukyan’s mental fortitude against Islam Makhachev
Unlike most professional fighters, Arman Tsarukyan has a different life story. The fighter doesn’t come from a poor family and maintained a rich and luxurious lifestyle before his UFC debut. As it turns out, getting Instagram verified was his primary reason to join UFC and fight.
With only a few days to the fight, Tsarukyan recently revealed that in contrast to Islam Makhachev, he doesn’t have much pressure on him. The Armenian star confirmed that he isn’t that invested as he doesn’t need to fight to make money like others. UFC veteran Michael Bisping talked about this on his YouTube channel and shared a unique perspective.
Bisping has given his sweat and blood for the sport of MMA and understands what it takes to be a champion. Given the stark difference between the mentality of Makhachev and Tsarukyan, fans are expecting a huge battle. Their highly anticipated showdown this Saturday will shape the future of the lightweight division.
