Arsenal to seal Gabriel Magalhaes deal from Lille on Monday

The North Londoners are close to wrap up star defender Gabriel’s signing from Lille next week, reports Fabrizio Romano. A $35 million transfer fee is agreed between the sides. The journalist used his famous phrase ‘Here we go’ to indicate the deal is almost finalized.

Napoli were the other interested party but it seems now they have lost the chase. Rivals Manchester United also made an approach, although they weren’t so serious with the deal. Hence, Arsenal are the only club favorites for his transfer and the Brazilian is ready to warm the English Premier league with his arrival.

Arsenal may be doing a fine piece of business at last. Moreover, they are bringing in a defensive reinforcement worth noting for. It is time they move out from buying out of contract veterans or players that aren’t suited to this competitive league. The 22 year-old signature will start a new policy of recruitment at the club.

Previous transfer dealing of defenders at the club had been utterly disappointing. Sometimes embarrassing too. Shkrodan Mustafi, Sokratis and the experienced David Luiz were acquired to relieve the tension at the back. Unfortunately, nobody made a real impact in solidifying the defense. They were all error-prone with the complain of conceding cheap giveaways from the back, resulting in total downfall.

What to expect?

Although Saliba and Mari are the future of the club, Arsenal needs a true leader to cool down their infringement at the back. Gabriel is a class in making. He is the rightful person to cement the Gunner’s back-line. The defender stands at 1,90m with a skillful feet. He’s also left-footed and that fields him on that particular side to instruct his game-play. He have a decent ball recovery rate and does’t dive into challenges. The defender is fantastic in aerial battles. All of this fits perfectly into Arsenal’s bill.

Arteta will hope he fits into his plans right away. Player of his qualities shouldn’t face much difficulties settling in. The Spanish boss created the best version of defenders, currently at his disposal. That helped him win the FA Cup. Now, with Gabriel, he will ignite his tactics and bring about a real change at the club. Magalhaes, himself, will find it the right age to take his career on a high with a club that needs him morr than anybody else.
