Chelsea looking at Thiago Silva to bolster their defense

Frank Lampard’s Blues are in for something great if they manage to bring in Thiago Silva once his contract expires at Paris Saint Germain. The titanic central defender is captaining his club to their first ever Champions league final. He also wants to decorate his career at the French capital by winning the highest honor in European club football. The 35 year old haven’t got down from his prime and is a substantial player for any club.

The Ligue 1 giants refused to hand a contract extension to their veteran defender in the month of June. Since then speculation raised on his future commitments before he calls time on his illustrious career. The Brazilian is more than capable to play at a highest level even at this age and should try out one last stern test. Chelsea can become the next mighty stage for the former AC Milan man to make an appearance for.

Issues at the back-line

It is undeniable that Chelsea have major issues to solve at the back. The Club have been immensely performing from an attacking point of view but totally flopping at the other end. Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger all shuddered in critical times to hand themselves with unexpected blows. Lampard’s side also leaked the most number of goals if the top five teams are considered with Kepa Arrizabalaga also flopping in between the sticks. Their defensive fraternities needs to be resolved as quickly as possible.

The blues dove into the transfer market to make necessary addition to their front-line. With money being spent up in those positions, securing a cheap but good defender is of utmost necessary. With the addition of Thiago Silva, Chelsea will not only find a beast but also a true leader. Plus, he won’t cost a penny. Silva will bring in leadership and sharpen up the center back combination at the back. His experience with intent of not slowing down is another rare trait that will help the club. It is now left to see if Silva have what it takes to perform in a such a competitive league. But if he prove his critics wrong, Chelsea will be a feared side.
