Former World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka is ready to avenge her US Open loss to Coco Gauff. While the American saw the better of her opponent in her home Slam, the Belarusian is currently on a 12-match winning streak.

The 2023 US Open final was a match for sore eyes. With Sabalenka having just made World No. 1 in the rankings, the tennis world expected her to lift her first US Open trophy. However, a teenage Coco Gauff stunned her home crowd by defeating the Belarusian opponent in three sets.

After US Open, I really wanted that revenge. I'm happy to play her, and I am super excited to play that semi-final match.
Said Sabalenka.

Like her opponent, Sabalenka too possesses a single Grand Slam title. However, it is to be noted that the Belarusian is the defending champion in Melbourne.

Nevertheless, the match will be one for the books. With the players being so close in ranking to each other, it will definitely be a tight match. Both Gauff and Sabalenka are on track for a second Grand Slam title. Therefore, the competition between the two of them will be enhanced.

Aryna Sabalenka admits to a shift in mindset over the years

The Belarusian has seen it all in tennis. From winning a Grand Slam to making it to the top of the rankings, she is still going strong, with strong hopes of further success.

However, the former World No. 1 admitted that it was only possible because of her shift in mindset over the years.

During the post-match conference at the 2023 Australian Open, the defending champion at Melbourne admitted to having had to work with a psychologist for years. However now, she has stopped consulting her sports psychologist, going off the belief that no one can help her more than herself.

To be honest, I decide to stop working with a psychologist. I realized that nobody than me will help, you know? Yeah, on the pre-season I spoke to my psychologist saying, like, Listen, I feel like I have to deal with that by myself, because every time hoping that someone will fix my problem, it's not fixing my problem. I just have to take this responsibility and I just have to deal with that. Yeah, I'm not working with psychologist any more. I'm my psychologist
Said Sabalenka

The 25-year-old will now play against young prodigy Coco Gauff in the semi-finals of the 2024 Australian Open. She will hope to defend her title in Melbourne, a goal she is on track to accomplish.
