Assam Cabinet decides to offer post of DSP in Assam Police to Hima Das

The Cabinet of the state of Assam headed by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal decided to appoint sprinter Hima Das as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). The cabinet further changed its policy with regard to sports by appointing Class I and Class II officers in different government departments from among sportspersons. In that vein, Hima Das has been appointed in the police force.
Him Das is just 21 years of age and she became the first Indian athlete ever to win gold at an international event when she clinched gold at the IAFF Under 20 World Championships where she clocked 51.46 seconds in the 400m race. She also holds the current national record in the same event as she clocked 50.79 seconds at the 2018 Asian Games which were held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Kiren Rijiju welcomes move to appoint Hima Das as DSP
Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju took to Twitter to express his happiness with the move to appoint Hima Das as a DSP. He wrote, “Well done! Assam Cabinet, headed by CM @sarbanandsonwal Ji has decided to offer the post of DSP in Assam Police to sprinter queen @himadas8 ! (sic).”
Apart from the decision regarding sportspersons, the cabinet also took various decisions on matters like cyber security, administration in colleges, providing free electricity to households, establishment of mini-secretariats, energy conservation and so much more.
