“At 19, you can only improve” – Jannik Sinner aiming to dethrone Djokovic, Nadal and Federer

The 19-year-old Italian, Jannik Sinner, has etched his name as the one to watch out for. Sinner reaped a string of results which have brought praise for him from the likes of Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. Further, he downed the World No.6, Stefanos Tsitsipas and former World No.3, Alexander Zverev in 2020 whilst displaying the highest quality of tennis.
Moreover, Sinner has the reputation around the ATP Tour for being a very level-headed and focused individual. The 19-year-old has recently weighed in on his priorities and has reflected on the most essential aspects that one has to master in order to become a tough competitor.
“The head counts for 70%” – Jannik

In an interview with Sky, Sinner said, “Considering the percentages in tennis, the head also counts for 70%. It counts more than everything else. Then for 20% there is the body. The shots instead for 10%.”
Further, the Italian commented on the weapon and desire that motivation equips one with. He added, “Tennis is the most important thing in my life after family and friends. The main element is always the passion for sport. The desire to set a goal every day, right from when you wake up, taking into account the difficult moments is fundamental. If you really like the sport you do, you can overcome any hard times.”
The former top-tier skier proceeded to comment on the obstacles he dealt with in the field of tennis as a youngster. “As a child, I couldn’t throw the ball to the other side. Not even able to hold the racket in my hand because it was too heavy for me. I like tennis more. Also because as a child I won so much in skiing and never in tennis, it bothered me,” Sinner continued.
Furthermore, the Italian disclosed that his favourite shot is backhand due to his proficiency in it. However, Jannik believes that this is just the beginning for him as “at 19 you can only improve.”
