Neeraj Chopra and Johannes Vetter

Tokyo Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra will be facing old rival and friend World No. 1 Johannes Vetter at the Paavo Nurmi Games in June 2022. He will also face the reigning World Champion Anderson Peters in Finland.

Although Neeraj Chopra is expected to participate in the Diamond League coming next month, the Paavo Nurmi is his first official confirmation of his participation, especially since winning the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics. The Paavo Nurmi games are Finland’s most prestigious track and field games that have been held every year since 1957.

Vetter won the 2020 Paavo Nurmi Games with a 91.49m with a meet record. This will however be the first time that Chopra will be competing at the prestigious event. Germany’s Julian Webber, world no.3, will also be in action in Finland.
