WATCH- “Pushing until the last stride”: Indian mixed relay team bags stunning silver at U20 World Athletics Championships

The Indian mixed relay team on Tuesday put up a staggering performance in the 4x400m relay at the U20 World Championships, setting an Asian record on their way. The quartet of Barath Sridhar, Priya Mohan, Kapil and Rupal Chaudhary finished the race in a blistering speed of 3.17.76 minutes to pick up a second place podium finish in a dominating performance.

India took a silver medal only behind USA, who completed their relay in a Championship record time of 3.17.69 minutes. Last time at the 2018 Games in Nairobi, India had taken a bronze medal. Barath Sridhar, Priya Mohan, Kapil were a part of that team, while Rupal is the new member that took part in the U20 World Championships this year.

The fantastic victory for the youngsters is a promising start for the youngsters, who are doing quite well in an extremely competitive field. On an individual level, these athletes have been living up to their fast pace in the relay. On Tuesday, Rupal and Priya qualified for the 400m semifinals after a strong showing in the first-round heats. Watch below the performance of the Indian relay team that brought home the silver medal.

The U20 World Athletics Championships has also seen 15 year old Ashakiran Barla make it to the semifinals of the women’s 800m. Rupal took the heat in 52.50s while Priya finished with a 52.56s to go second in heat number 5.
