“Vicious attack and assault”: Punched runner considers filing lawsuit after initially being discouraged

Punched runner at Florida track meet

A high school track star who was punched in the face by another athlete is now considering filing a lawsuit against him according to reports. The incident took place during the 1600m at Tohopekaliga Tiger Invitational in Kissimmee, Florida.

The athlete, who was not a part of the race, came on the track and interrupted despite being told to stay out by the punched runner. Things went from bad to worse in the next lap, as the runner shoved the disrupter when he started impeding. In retaliation the disruptor chased him down and sucker-punched him.

Nathan Carter, the attorney of the punched runner, said that he was considering a lawsuit after getting a concussion.

Carter also said that the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office falsely claimed that his client did not want to press charges. The family of the victim did not want to press charges after the vicious attack of assault in front of hundreds of people.

The OCSD deputy told the family that if [my client] pressed charges then he would also be arrested for battery. Only because of this threat did the family choose not to press charges,” said Carter according to nypost.com. He was later told that the deputy sheriff was mistaken, and things are still being looked into.
