The one world record which proved too difficult for Usain Bolt

Usain Bolt

Legendary sprinter Usain Bolt holds numerous track records against his name. The fastest man on Earth named many milestones during his active years, especially clocking 9.58 seconds and 19.19 seconds in the 100 meters and 200 meters races respectively.

The mighty Jamaican defied all odds whenever he stepped inside the stadium and always managed to go a step further than his previous accolades. However, the eight-time Olympics gold medalist failed to record one record against his name despite trying so hard.

The incident took place back in 2010 when Bolt came up short with a time of 30.97 that had to settle for being the fastest time ever without altitude assistance to cover 300m. This showed that even the omnipotent Bolt is only human and he wasn’t afraid to take on historic challenges with his herculean efforts.

For those who don’t know, former 200m and 400m world-record holder Michael Johnson had posted a scintillating time of 30.85 seconds in 2000 for the fastest 300m sprint in history. But his record was later broken by none other than Wayde van Niekerk, becoming the first man to dip below Johnson’s feat in 2017.

Interestingly, at the very same meet that Bolt launched his own attempt at 300m history, the South African racer clocked in at 30.81s to beat both the Jamaican’s sea-level record and the overall world best.

Although ‘The Lightning Bolt’ failed to surpass the 300m record in his lifetime, he is still the fastest human on this planet which makes him an absolute legend of the sport.
