American sprint star Fred Kerley made a statement at the Tokyo Olympics. Kerley came up second in the 100m finals to earn his maiden Olympic medal. The Diamond League gold medallist fell 0.4 seconds short as Italy’s Marcell Jacobs sealed the first place in the much-anticipated final.

While Kerley was heartbroken having missed out on the gold medal by a whisker, he is ready to wear the 0.4 seconds like a badge. Taking to Instagram, Kerley shared a video of him training ahead of a brand new season. And the caption read “.04 from being Olympic champion. motivation. I will be champion“.

Fred Kerley promised to himself that he one day will be the Olympic champion as he bears the memories to Tokyo as a motivation. Numerous Olympians came together to cheer on the 26-year-old in the comment section and one of them was the legendary sprinter Usain Bolt.

A winner of whopping eight Olympic gold medals, Bolt commented an emoji of an explosion on Kerley’s post. American triple jumper and Olympic medallist Will Claye too chipped in with a comment. “Go get it champ,” Claye wrote. The Olympic 4×100 relay champion Fausto Desalu too commented a couple of fire emojis.

In the past, Bolt has reiterated numerous times that he is yet to see someone to succeed his legacy on the track. And will commenting an emoji might seem like just a show of appreciation for many, it means a lot coming from one of the most decorated track and field athletes ever. Bolt might as well have found the successor he has been looking for in Kerley.
