Andrey Rublev undoubtedly had one of the greatest seasons this year. The Russian leads the pack as he claimed five titles, more than any other player on the ATP Tour. His win-loss record stands at an impressive 41-10. This string of astounding results allowed Rublev to climb up the charts and ultimately conclude the year in the Top-10 for the first time.

While the 23-year-old was as promising and bagged some commendable wins over the likes of Stefanos Tsitsipas and Roger Federer in 2019, the accumulation of the results he reaped wasn’t as consistent. Andrey rose from the World No.23 to the World No.8, even in this shortened season.

This massive improvement urged his peers to vote for the youngster for the ‘Most Improved Player of the Year’ award. He beat Ugo Humbert, Diego Schwartzman and Jannik Sinner to claim this victory.

At the start of the year, Andrey announced himself when he won back-to-back titles at Adelaide International and Qatar ExxonMobil Open. By doing so, the Russian became the first player since Dominik Hrbaty in 2004 to do so. In addition, Rublev reached the quarter-finals of the U.S Open for the second and that of Roland Garros for the first time.

To commemorate this achievement, the ATP Tour posted a tribute to Andrey’s season on Twitter, which he retweeted.

Acing past top contenders like Dominic Thiem and Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey succeeded to lift titles at the Hamburg Open, St. Petersburg Open and Vienna Open. Further, he went on to make his debut at the year-end prestigious championships, i.e, the Nitto ATP Finals.
