Schwartzman has so far been outstanding in the Argentina Open 2021. In the first round he took on Lukas Klein, and beat him 6-4 6-2. The Quarter Finals saw Schwartzman get the better of Jaume Munar 6-2 7-5.

The first seed Schwartzman is ranked no.9 in the World and it showed in the matches he played. He was completely dominant against his Semi Finals opponent Fourth seed Miomir Kecmanović, convincingly beating him in straight sets 6-0 6-4.

His opponent in the Final is qualifier Francisco Cerundolo. Cerundolo beat Federico Coria in the first round. In the round of sixteen he defeated third seed Benoît Paire. The Quarter Finals saw him get the better of Pablo Andújar. In the Semi Finals he overcame the challenge of Albert Ramos Viñolas 7-5, 3-6 6-2.
