Sinner has done decently post his Australian Open debacle, where he had gone with expectations and hope only to be ousted in the very first round. He reached the QuarterFinals of the Marseille Open and now he is in the QuarterFinals of the Dubai open. Sinner had a bye in the first round in Dubai.

In the second round he overcame Alexander Bublik 2-6 7-6 6-4. In the third round he had a tough encounter against the very experienced fourth seed Roberto Bautista Agut. Agut challenged him all the way, but Sinner held his nerve and played intelligently to secure the win and his place in the Quarter Finals of the Dubai Open. His opponent at the Quarters is Aslan Karatsev. Karatsev has made massive improvements to his game, and taken giant strides on the ATP Rankings.

His Australian Open exploits, where he reached the Semi Finals, is part of Tennis folklore now. At the Dubai Open so far, he has beaten Egor Gerasimov in the first round. Twelfth seeded Dan Evans was his victim in the next round, and in the third round Karatsev overcame Lorenzo Sonego 3-6 6-3 6-4.
