He comes into the tie with a loss in the finals at the Belgrade Open 2021 defeating local boy Djokovic in the semi-final.

22-year old youngster Ugo Humbert is looking for consistency and form after having made a shaky start to the 2021 season. His best run came at the Marseille Open where he reached the semi-finals. He comes to Madrid from Monte Carlo where he lost in the R64 tie and will be looking to find some form before the Rolland Garros 2021.
