The twenty-seven year old Belarusian qualifier has created quite a stir by reaching the Semi-finals. Those who follow Ivashka’s tennis will know that he has been doing well on clay courts this season and it’s not a fluke. The first tournament on clay this year was the Andalucia Open, where he reached the Quarter-finals. Next up was the Barcelona Open where he qualified into the main draw and then reached the round of thirty-two, losing there to Rafael Nadal.

In the tournament so far, he has again come through the qualifiers to reach the semi-finals. On the way he has beaten Emil Ruusuvuori in the first round, Mackenzie McDonald in the second and the big scalp of Alexander Zverev in the Quarterfinals. His Semi-final opponent is German Jan-Lennard Struff.

Struff, who reached the Quarter-final of the Sardegna Open, is showing some good form here too. In the first round he beat Andrej Martin in straight sets, in the second he got the better of Dominik Koepfer and in the Quarter-final sent home the fourth seed Filip Krajinović, in three sets 6-4 4-6 7-6.
