Kamil Majchrzak has admitted that he was devastated after learning about Jannik Sinner’s doping test. The Italian was told by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) to continue playing despite testing positive for a banned substance, while the Polish star was banned for 13 months for a failed test.

Majchrzak tested positive for three banned substances in September and October 2022. He failed another test conducted by the Polish tennis federation. The test revealed that he was consuming an isotonic drink that contained a banned substance. He was suspended for four years in June last year after serving a seven-month provisional suspension.

In December, the ITIA accepted his appeal reducing his suspension to 12 months. Meanwhile, Sinner tested positive twice for clostebol in March but continued playing. The Italian defended himself by stating that the positive tests were because of the cream his physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi was using to treat a wound. The ITIA declared the 23-year-old was not at fault and only stripped him of his Indian Wells Masters ranking points and prize money.

Majchrzak took to social media to show his displeasure on how the case was treated compared to his own. He revealed that the tennis body does not care about lower-ranking players.

I received news from the tennis world that was shocking and extremely painful for me. I did not go into details for my own health and mental comfort, but the fact that I could not even set foot on a non-private court for most of the duration of my case while others could play normally and fulfill their dreams in the same situation does not give me peace. I am devastated and shocked. But as I said, maybe I am wrong. Besides, who cares what player with lower ranking thinks.

Nick Kyrgios slams Jannik Sinner after the Italian escapes doping suspension

The ITIA ruled that Sinner was unaware of the contaminated substance when being used on his body. He was only stripped of his Indian Wells Masters’ 400 ranking points and $320,000 prize money for reaching the semifinals of the tournament.

Kyrgios stated that punishment was insufficient and was supposed to be given a two-year ban.

Ridiculous - whether it was accidental or planned. You get tested twice with a banned (steroid) substance… you should be gone for 2 years. Your performance was enhanced. Massage cream…. Yeah nice.

Sinner will bid for his second Grand Slam victory of the season at the US Open. He recently beat American Frances Tiafoe in straight sets to win the Cincinnati Open.
