“Attacking LGBT newspapers, it’s incredible you still get to represent tennis” Twitter comes hard at Martina Navratilova for criticizing Pink News
Martina Navratilova
Tennis legend Martina Navratilova lashed out at UK-based online newspaper Pink News and their columnist Owen Jones in a Twitter post on October 26, 2022, Wednesday. Pink News precisely aims at reaching the same target audience that Navratilova represents, the LGBT community across the UK and worldwide.
However, Navratilova said in her post that the newspaper supported the online bashing of lesbians in one of their recent depictions, and pointed out that their columnist Jones was just “disgraceful.”
Navratilova is known to comment on both social and political issues on Twitter and does not shy away from responding to users who engage with her on the same topic as well. Judging by the comments and the retweets, Navratilova gave fitting replies to Twitter users who tried to direct some of their online hate to her and extended their support towards the newspaper.
Martina Navratilova also mocked already-notorious rapper Kanye West on Twitter
Having earlier urged Adidas to stop sponsoring notorious rapper Kanye West (Ye) for his antisemitic remarks, Navratilova recently started another tirade against him, this time admonishing him for getting “desperate” during his actions of showing up unannounced at the Los Angeles office of Sketchers with a film crew accompanying him.
The rapper, who once also launched a Presidential nomination bid, has already been banned by sponsors such as Balenciaga, Gap, and Adidas for his controversial remarks.
West received massive backlash from not only Jews but other communities as well for his comments. With Adidas now parting ways, Navratilova took to her Twitter account to show her support for the decision. “Dominoes Kanye, dominoes… And well done @adidas !!!”
The American former tennis star also seemed to be most strongly criticizing the recent anti-abortion legislation and also some supporters of the last Donald Trump government, who were trying to negate his role in the ill-famed January 6 Capitol riots incident.
