Karl-Anthony Towns and Nikola Jokic

With the new NBA season up and running, the Denver Nuggets have made a slow start to the season but that hasn’t stopped the reigning MVP Nikola Jokic who remains unstoppable. He currently averages 29.8 points, 12.3 rebounds, 9.8 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game.

However, the critics have persisted in questioning his abilities. The latest is former teammate Austin Rivers who recently claimed on the Offguard Podcast that the New York Knicks center, Karl-Anthony Towns is a better scorer and more skilled than Nikola Jokic.

Karl is a better scorer and almost every attribute of the game over Nikola. He’s an average shooter, he’s not a good three-point shooter. I didn’t say he’s a better player, I already said Nikola is the best player in the NBA, but if we are talking about offensive skillset, Karl can score more. So what does Nikola do better than him other than pass?

Austin Rivers said

Many have found the claim made by Rivers quite shocking as the data from both stars say otherwise, and data never lies. Both players have had 23 head-to-head matchups, with KAT averaging 24 points and Joker 18.9. Yet, Jokic’s accolades of three NBA MVPs and an NBA Finals MVP far surpasses Towns’.

And while the Nuggets have not had the best starts, their best player has shown that he still has what it takes. However, with a downside as the Nuggets appear to be risking his load management, according to unnamed NBA executives.

Nikola Jokic made history during Nuggets overtime win over Brooklyn Nets

When the Denver Nuggets secured a crucial 144-139 overtime victory against the Brooklyn Nets, it was a special moment for reigning MVP, Nikola Jokic. Not only Jokic but new Nuggets veteran, Russell Westbrook, who also delivered his best performance of the season.

The best player in the league had etched his name in the history books once more, as he became the first player to record multiple 40-point performances and multiple triple-doubles in just four games this season.

During the game against the Nets, he secured his second triple-double of the season, as he posted an impressive 29 points, 18 rebounds, and 16 assists on 9-of-16 shooting. The other players on the Nuggets would however need to step up, especially in their shooting, if the Nuggets are to make a push for another title.
