Ashleigh Barty took on Shelby Rogers in the fourth round of the Australian Open 2021. Barty was in the lead when it came to the head to head comparison. She was also the favorite going in as Rogers had never been able to make it past the quarterfinals in any major. Although Rogers had been playing with an aggressive style and it was a good match, Barty took the win as expected.

The match was won by Barty with a score of 6-3, 6-4.

The first set started with Barty on the serve and she took the lead with 1-0. Then Shelby started using her aggressive tacts to get a game. After that, Barty switched to a defensive playstyle to get a good lead at 4-1. After the break, Shelby tried to come back but Barty was not going to let her. With a few brilliant serves near the end, Barty took the set with 6-3.

In the second set, Barty kept on pushing Shelby and was able to get a comfortable lead of 3-1. She then extended the lead to 5-1. By this point the winner was clear, Shelby tried to fight against fate but it was set in stone. Barty took the set with a score of 6-4.

In the post-match interview, Barty said, “I was careful because Shelby could easily take the match if you are not careful.”

She also expressed how her support team is like her family.
