Karolína Muchová was seeded 25th for this year’s Australian Open. In the five matches that she played to get to the semifinals, she didn’t drop a set until her Quarter Final clash with Ash Barty. In the match against Barty, Muchová was a set down when she called for medical time out. A break which turned the match on its head. Post the medical timeout Muchová started playing like the player that had won 4 consecutive straight sets matches and wrapped up the quarter final  1-6 6-3 6-2. 

Jennifer Brady was seeded 22nd for this year’s Australian Open. Just like her opponent in the semi finals, Brady too didn’t drop a set until the quarter finals. In the quarter finals, up against the aggressive Jessica Pegula she went a set down early. But she didn’t let that affect her confidence as she stuck to her game and eventually won the match in 3 sets, 4-6 6-2 6-1.

The amount of power Brady has on both wings is scary to watch. Her shots are deep placed on the court which makes it hard to return. Even her returns have so much topspin on them that it’s difficult to hit a powerful shot on it. Overall she is a tough player to face on any day. Muchová on the other hand is all strategy and calm. Her medical timeout was just what she needed in that match against Barty. A strategy to slow the match down, to upset the rhythm of the opposition, which she did. Add to that her terrific approach shots and a great serve and you have a formidable opposition. This match will be Brady’s brawns vs Muchová’s brains. 

Match Prediction:  Brady should win it in 3 sets.
