“Awful,” Martina Navratilova fumes after trans athlete wins a women’s race while other participants gracefully accept it and smile
Navratilova doesn't advocate for the inclusion of trans athletes in women's sports as she, like many critics, thinks trans athletes have an unfair advantage.

Martina Navratilova called out a transgender athlete who won the 200m and 400m races at the Liberty League College track and field events. She took to X and replied to a post that asked whether it’s fair when a trans athlete wins in women’s events.
Navratilova doesn’t advocate for the inclusion of trans athletes in women’s sports as she, like many critics, thinks trans athletes have an unfair advantage. In her tweet, she expressed her anger and questioned why the women on the podium were smiling. She wrote: “Awful. And the women on the podium are smiling.”

Last month, Navratilova slammed tennis journalist Ben Rothenberg for his stance on the debate. He first called her out for defending Harry Potter fame JK Rowling for not forgiving Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson as they advocated for the inclusion of transgender people in women’s spaces.
The 67-year-old has often claimed that she is not against trans athletes, but does not want them to participate in women’s sports. On the Kara Swisher podcast, the 18-time Grand Slam singles champion claimed she advocates for trans rights on a civil level.
Saudi Arabia ambassador criticizes Martina Navratilova for her stance on WTA Finals
The Saudi Ambassador in Washington, Reema bint Bandar Al Saud recently said that she was deeply hurt after reading an op-ed by Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert in the Washington Post about female tennis players going to Saudi Arabia for the WTA Finals. The Princess wrote Western media are failing to acknowledge the progress women have made in Saudi Arabia.

The WTA Finals will be played in Saudi Arabia for the first time, between November 2 and November 9, offering $15.25m. The critics of the move are concerned about the safety of the women players. Navratilova even pulled out of working at the WTA Finals.
