On Sunday, Ron Killings, aka R-Truth, broke it to the masses that he’s been released by WWE. In the revelation that he made on X, the veteran wrestler thanked the company, but more importantly, the fans who’ve supported him come sunshine or rain. As soon as the news started making the rounds on social media, the discourse that ensued was torrential.

Even those within WWE were met with utter disbelief and shock. As per a report from Fightful Select, a top company talent called Truth’s ouster total nonsense. Moreover, another anonymous talent went off on the current regime’s ruthlessness. WWE is now merged under TKO Group Holdings, with the $21.4 billion conglomerate enabling those at Endeavor a 61% controlling stake in it.

Circling back to the backstage feeling in WWE regarding Killings getting the sack, some wondered if he’d be offered a role as the company’s brand ambassador, akin to Titus O’Neill. This was reported by PWInsider, and the outlet also claimed that a WWE talent relayed to it that nothing is guaranteed after Truth’s departure. For the unversed, WWE isn’t technically firing the former Awesome Truth member.

Instead, his contract isn’t going to be renewed. It has certain wrestlers walking on eggshells as they’d want to ensure that their future deals are negotiated well in advance. There’s an overwhelming downpour of love from a ton of Truth’s WWE colleagues.

Names like Rhea Ripley, The Miz, Kevin Owens, Carmelo Hayes, Big E, and many more have expressed their disappointment over the situation. However, there’s not a solitary negative notion about the man who goes by Ron Killings in real life.

R-Truth’s last notable WWE match will be remembered forever for being against John Cena

Last month, R-Truth got to wrestle his so-called childhood hero, John Cena. They fought it out at Saturday Night’s Main Event, albeit Cena’s Undisputed WWE title wasn’t up for grabs. The former K-Kwik showed that he still has enough gas left in the tank. Truth’s theatrics, which were mostly an emulation of The Cenation Leader, made the fans chuckle.

Truth pulled up to the arena with Cena’s entrance music and the same attire. The former US Champion referred to himself as Ron Cena and held up that piece of cloth that had “the last time is now” emblazoned on it. In hindsight, it was indeed true. Little did anyone know that he’d be notified by WWE about his contract expiration just a few days later.

The former Judgment Day member bowed out quite poetically. He appeared on last week’s SmackDown and bumped into Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, and JC Mateo backstage. The record-breaking 24/7 Champion hilariously adjudged Mateo as a husky and even wondered if he was Sikoa’s son. Truth later bore the brunt of Mateo’s brute strength in a singles match that the 53-year-old lost. It might’ve been the last of Truth from this run.

Jonathan Coachman reveals why R-Truth’s release isn’t the right piece of business

It goes without saying that R-Truth is one of the most universally adored wrestlers to have ever existed. One could already gauge the affection he shared with the rest of the WWE locker room with the way his co-workers have penned emotional notes for the North Carolina native.

Another one of Truth’s former WWE colleagues, Jonathan Coachman, has also offered his two cents on the matter. The ex-Raw commentator said he doesn’t understand why some netizens are giving their all to justify Truth’s release as merely a business call.

Coachman underscored how these wrestlers travel to the different parts of the world together so much so that they literally become family to one another. Most of the time, they’re on the road multiple days of the week and almost the entire year. The Coach added that if WWE were to thrive in the long run, it’d have to keep people like Truth around to foster a healthy backstage environment.
