Indian Men at Thomas Cup 2022
The Indian Mens badminton team created history on Friday, as they reached the finals of the Thomas Cup 2022 after a 73 year long wait. The Indian team stunned the 2016 champions Denmark in the semifinals to clinch the prestigious spot in the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
The World Championship silver medalist Kidambi Srikanth, the best Indian men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty and upcoming singles player HS Prannoy took the reigns in their hands, earning a 3-2 victory against Denmark to win the semi-finals. While Lakshya Sen was down with food poisoning, and the doubles pair of Krishna Prasad Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Goud did not win their matches, the huge effort put in by them is also reflective of the team spirit displayed by the Indian men.
As the winners of the semifinals celebrated their wins, several other athletes from different sports took to social media to congratulate the team on their gigantic effort, and the pride that they have brought the country.

Fans were quick to take the stage on twitter, extending their gratitude and well wishes for the team at the Thomas Cup 2022. Legendary cricket player Sachin Tendulkar was the first to offer congratulate the entire team on their performance.
Para badminton Paralympic champion Pramod Bhagat was beyond proud of his fellow players for hitting the mark and creating history for India.
The Minister of Sports, Anurag Thakur, and several others also congratulated the team on their win, and wished them luck for the finals.
