The fifth-seeded Indian team has been handed tough draws for the Thomas and Uber Cup finals. India has been placed in Group C of the Thomas Cup while they find themselves in Group B of the Uber Cup. After an impressive outing at the Tokyo Olympics as PV Sindhu won the bronze medal in women’s singles, the Asian nation has a Herculean task ahead of them.

The Indian men’s team has been grouped with defending champions China, Netherlands and Tahiti. In the delayed Thomas Cup, group A is made up of Indonesia, Taiwan, Algeria and Thailand while group B sees hosts Denmark take on South Korea, France and Germany. Group D is Japan, Malaysia, Canada and England.

In the Uber Cup, India has been handed a fairly easy draw as they are grouped with Thailand, Spain and Scotland. Among others, Group C is made up of South Korea, Taiwan, Tahiti and Egypt while defending champions Japan have been drawn with Indonesia, Germany and France in group A. China along with Malaysia, Denmark and Canada make up group D.

Both tournaments will take place in Aarhus, Denmark from October 9-17. The tournaments were originally meant to be played last August but have been delayed a number of times because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
