Replacing a legend like Tom Brady was certainly not a handy task but it seems the Tampa Bay Buccaneers made the right call by adding Baker Mayfield. When almost all the teams struggled in Week 1 in terms of the passing game, Mayfield displayed his prowess by contributing to a fabulous 37-20 victory. 

Completing 24 out of 30 passes for 289 yards and four game-winning touchdowns, Mayfield overshadowed the debut of the No. 2 overall draft pick Jayden Daniels with the Washington Commanders. The first touchdown thrown by the star quarterback portrayed his phenomenal skills of reading the defense as he made a touchdown pass towards Mike Evans having a single coverage, resulting in the wide receiver scoring point on vertical route.

On the next one, he connected with Chris Godwin in the third quarter when he and Evans released off the line, making the perfect space for the signal-caller to connect with Godwin, after they ran a switch concept on 1st and goal from the Commanders 4-yard line. On the following touchdown, Mayfield took advantage of his opponents’ lost coverage on rookie Jalen McMillan.

And the final touchdown came with the perfect timing and precise anticipation made by the star signal-caller, when Tampa Bay was facing a 3rd and 6 at the Commanders 45-yard line. It happened after the Bucs called for deep play, as tight end Cade Otton ran a post route and Evans on a corner route.

Fans have gone crazy seeing the Tampa Bay quarterback’s strategy with the passing game. Coming off a season with their fourth consecutive NFC South title, the Bucs showed themselves equally strong, and if anything, more refreshed, and fans are truly enjoying the thrill. While praising Mayfield’s passing production in Week 1, fans highlighted that he is very underrated in the league despite his impressive performance with great results.
