Tush push returned to the headlines on Sunday. The Philadelphia Eagles successfully used the controversial move several times against the Kansas City Chiefs to secure their second win of the season.
After surviving the offseason scrutiny from the league council on the grounds of danger to players’ health, it was clear that the Eagles would frequently run the play to their advantage. Quarterback Jalen Hurts scored a crucial touchdown in the fourth quarter to tip the balance of the tie in the Eagles’ favor.

you be the judge. None were flagged – officials need to figure this play out https://t.co/Cn3ekutLvP pic.twitter.com/Q1ft4l1B4U
NFL fans noticed that Eagles linemen were moving on the line of scrimmage before the snap. Technically, the referee should have blown the whistle for illegal movement, but they didn’t.
That tush push sure looked like a false start….

On another occasion, the Eagles center Cam Jurgens lined up ahead of the ball, nearly rubbing shoulders with the Chiefs’ defense.
The NFL needs to ban the Tush Push.

Frustrated fans call for a ban on the tush push
Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones wasn’t in a good mood after the defeat. He directly called out the Eagles’ lineman for jumping the line in one play.

We think he jumped multiple times. An official didn’t see it, so it wasn’t called.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Get Up claimed that the Chiefs lost the game in March when the league decided to keep the tush push in football.
This game was lost in March. This game was lost when the NFL owners refused to ban the tush push from happening. It wasn’t lost yesterday… here might be a lot of games the Eagles play that were lost in March because this play is unstoppable. Not only the defense doesn’t know how to handle [the tush push], but not even the officials know how to handle it.

NFL Vice President of Officiating Dean Blandino, who is now a Fox rule analyst, said that tush push presents a lot of challenges for NFL officials.
I am done with the tush push, guys. It’s a hard play to officiate.

Fans, mostly from teams other than the Eagles, want to see the tush push removed quickly.
The Chiefs 1000% deserve to lose this game, but I agree the tush push is going to be what dominates the headlines. Should arguably be third and six and should have been 3rd and goal from the six.

Again, the Chiefs deserve to lose this game. This will just be the talking point. https://t.co/ZNwuN3tY9g
So we got false starts on the tush push And a Chiefs DL punched the ball before the snap..

Boy this officiating crew is in for a long week..
The Eagles commit about 5 penalties during a Tush Push, and the NFL just doesn’t call them.

Center is offsides, guards false start.
Ban the play. pic.twitter.com/ffukdCEj7Q
Hey @NFL @NFLOfficiating you know why the tush push is so effective because their offensive line is moving before the snap every time. Maybe make that reviewable. #chiefskingdom pic.twitter.com/0nRc71jA4j

"I've been against the play (Tush Push) for two years, I've made my feelings quite known. It's not a football play, it's a scrum."

Clean this up @NFL. Every "Tush Push" is triggered by the RG and LG, you can clearly see it from the aerial view. Should be a false start, but your refs won't call it. Eagles are good, but no need to make them better by letting them cheat the rules. pic.twitter.com/X59XBkPCrM

Tush push is the worst & it is not good for football.

If you defend it, you stink.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni was asked whether he would make adjustments so that officials and opponents have enough field of vision to see any offside. Sirianni’s cautious answer did not include the offsides against the Chiefs, but he said that the offense has to be perfect.
I get how we can manipulate things and show things like that, but it was slowed down so much … But we understand that we have to be perfect on that play.
Nick Sirianni said (H/T: Pro Football Network)
For now, the Eagles possess complete freedom to employ the tush push as the most deadly weapon in football. And one can be sure that Hurts and Sirianni will run it against the Los Angeles Rams in week three.
