Former President Barack Obama recreates viral meme dapping with Team USA

Team USA received a proper send-off before playing their first friendly against Canada. It was a send-off that brought the who’s who of the basketball world and celebrities who wanted to wish them well. After all the introductions, it was former President Barack Obama who recreated a viral meme along with Stephen Curry and LeBron James.

Clips captured from the event and posted online show the former President of the United States moving along, shaking hands with the NBA superstars about to go to Paris. He dapped up Curry and James and gave them long hugs. Then, when he went up to Team USA coach Mark Few, he just shook hands. This was a recreation of the iconic Key & Peele sketch. Obama soon issued a good luck wish.

The video of this recreation has since gone viral. After all, the setting was also perfect. Shaking hands with the whites while dapping up and hugging the Black Americans. Barack Obama is always known to add some humor wherever he goes. The mere fact that the room was full of some of the biggest superstars of the NBA helped him add to the humor. He knows everyone is aware of his appreciation for the game.

Obama summed it up by suggesting that he put pressure on the superstars as he labeled them gold medal winners. The ex-POTUS knows all too well that with the talent at their disposal, an Olympics gold medal is an almost foregone conclusion.

Barack Obama was not done with just sending LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and the others off to Paris. He was present at the first friendly between the USA and Canada in Las Vegas. Before the games started and at the half, the former President met a lot of former Team USA Olympians.

He met former Team USA Olympics stars Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony near the courtside seats. Naturally, he knew them from close quarters of the time he was president. Obama also met South Carolina coach Dawn Staley and took a selfie with her courtside. He also met former greats of the game, Gary Payton, Grant Hill, and others.

The superstars were out to impress everyone on the court. However, Barack Obama just took the celebrity notch up by a few levels. In the perfect setting of a basketball game, the game that he loves a lot.
